Technological Singularity

The technological singularity is a futures research hypothesis that marks the moment when technological progress — primarily through self-improving artificial intelligence — becomes so uncontrollable and irreversible that human civilization undergoes fundamental changes. According to the theory, the emergence of superhuman intelligence initiates an explosive development (intelligence explosion) whose consequences are unpredictable with current knowledge.
